Septic Tank GPS Mapping Beginning October 5

Beginning Monday, October 5, 2026, the Idaho Rural Water Association (IRWA) will be working alongside Bayview Water & Sewer District staff to GPS locate and map known septic tanks within the District’s septic service area. This work may continue throughout the week.

The purpose of this project is to improve the District’s mapping and records by establishing accurate GPS locations for septic tanks throughout the system.

What Customers Can Expect

During this work, IRWA and District personnel may need to briefly enter customer yards to locate a septic tank and record its GPS location. In most cases, personnel will only be on the property for a short period of time before moving on to the next location.

If a septic tank is located in a fenced backyard or another area that is not readily accessible, personnel may need to knock on the door to notify the property owner or request access before proceeding.

Customers do not need to schedule an appointment or be home for this work when the septic tank is readily accessible.

Bayview Proper Only

This GPS mapping project applies only to properties within the Bayview proper area where the District provides septic service.

The District does not provide septic service in the Cape Horn area, so septic tanks in the Cape Horn area are not included in this project.

We appreciate our customers’ cooperation and understanding while IRWA and District personnel complete this important mapping work. Accurate location information will help the District maintain better infrastructure records and assist with future operation and maintenance of the septic system.
